Senate Resolution 121

A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE LIFE OF ROGER C. STEWART AND TO EXTEND TO HIS FAMILY THE SYMPATHY OF THE SENATE ON HIS DEATH.

WHEREAS, Roger C. Stewart was a native of Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, he attended Millsaps College and was a veteran of the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, he had worked with Pritchard International and had been General Sales Manager at Dumas Milner Chevrolet and Herrin-Gear Chevrolet; and

WHEREAS, he also was a cattleman and a real estate developer, and was a partner in K&R Development Co.; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart had lived in Raymond, Mississippi, for 40 years; and

WHEREAS, he was elected to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors in the 4th District in 1976 and served three terms; and

WHEREAS, as a supervisor, he also served as President of the Mississippi Supervisors Association; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart was a member of Raymond Presbyterian Church, where he was Chairman of the Board of Deacons and a former Sunday School Superintendent; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart also served as an Alderman for the City of Raymond; and

WHEREAS, he was also very active in civic organizations, having served in many capacities doing civic and charitable work; and

WHEREAS, his life was one filled with service to others in both the public and private sectors, and his passing will be mourned by all whose lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, his daughter, Dr. Paula Strange, and his son, Dr. Clarke Stewart; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mississippi State Senate to extend our sympathy to his family for their loss:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby commend the life of Roger C. Stewart, honor him for his public service and devotion to the betterment of his community, and extend our deepest sympathy to his family for their loss of a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Stewart.
